Although the plans don't call for it, I like to add balsa sheeting to the nose area. Typically, the planes need nose weight, and this provides a 'beefy' place to grab the planes while changing and winding rubber motors

Guillow bottom insignia same as top, but have not seen any authentic photos with such. Closest was fuselage type so I scanned those and wil make decals for bottom wings from side insignia. Hope the decal kit works!

Don't think I will add extra wood as we plan on covering it with aluminum (front) and wood (rear), just like the original. Now I can construct and detail the cockpit while the "Boys" build the tail and wings!
