I was fortunate today to receive an original Walt Mooney Boston Beaver from my Uncle. This model was built back in 1983 by Walt and has seen some action. This is a typical heavy Walt Mooney build coming in at 30 grams as shown with no rubber. This was typical of the Walt Mooney planes I saw when I was younger. Still his planes would fly great because he was a master at trimming models. Any way I will hang this up and take good care of it. This is not a Dumas Kit

Detail of wing dihedral. A little tricky for a first timer, but I think it's pretty close.

The interesting part of this model was the use of an ordinary pin for a wheel axle.

Before landing gear was added, had to make sure the landing gear structure was tilted correctly. Next step was to sand the skelital frame of the fuselage, wings and stabilizer. Going on line to see other examples, such as here at VirtualAerodrome.com has really helped me get started. Everyone here has some pretty cool looking aircraft and there certainly is a lot of talent here and good advice for beginners like me.

Well, it turned out a little rough, but I do like it. This kit was fun to build and the wing dihedral was a bit of a challenge.

This is my second aircraft I have built using Guillows series 900 Sky Raider kit. It is all, as I say, "old school", using only parts and materials provided in the kit. It was definately worth the ten bucks for the kit. Lots of fun to build.

Work starts with the basic fuselage. Very simple wood work structure.

Final product after paint and decals... old school tissue covering.
