I knew this one existed and I expected a fight, and got one! It's a typical Comet kit with plastic pieces, most of which will not be used.

Everything is covered, doped, and glued in place and I have applied a partial coat of gesso. I'll put on a couple more when the filler is sanded smooth.

Gesso, as in Jesse, is made to prepare nearly any porous surface for painting. It is used primarily to prime raw, or unprimed, canvas. The combination of these two will produce a finish smmoth as glass and with all the holes filled. It also makes the wood harder. Gesso is used directly from the bottle and produces a flat white which covers quite well.
