The smaller round hatches are .010 styrene cut to shape with 22 gauge wire used as the hinge. All decals, including the data plate in front of landing gear leg, and the weights and measures were created in Photoshop from pictures I found on the internet. Printed to waterslide decal inkjet paper. |
| Don C | Scratch Built Douglas F4D Skyray | Build | 26-May-20 11:58 | | | Views : 626 | | I like the design of the wing construction. The ribs are split in the middle alowing for a half to be constructed flat on the plan. Then you simply glue the other half of the ribs in place. No shimming or guessing. Given that, I am trying something different for the infill: one 3/32 strip between each seyt of ribs. On this one the bottom is done. As the camber increases it takes shimming which you can see, but it giges just the right surface. I used the 3/32 so there was enough to sand some off. We shall see. |
