I wanted to have some Russian representation in my hangar, so did not use Kit # 233 supplied decals. When ordering the P-39 Aircobra from Dumas, I also had them send a sheet of decals from Kit #234, the MIG-17.

This kit came with a 2- blade plastic propeller and no spinner, as pictured on kit box. I used Guillow’s spinner from the EDGE kit, sanded off the nose of the spinner until a hole appeared large enough to insert the center gun which was made from leftover landing gear parts.

Trial fit of parts; additional structure was added to wing and stabilizer construction. Clay was added to nose of fuselage to give model the correct balance for the tricycle landing gear.

Tissue covering complete, shrunk and sealed with dope. Planked fuselage was given numerous coats of clear dope and lightly sanded.
